Nearly two months ago I moved to St. Petersburg, Florida to intern at the Tampa Bay Times. Since then I've made friends, made videos, gone to Missouri, gone to the beach, and gained about 5 pounds. It's been a busy two months to say the least.
I find that in my downtime I inevitably end up at the beach or near the water. There's something about it that's comforting when I'm feeling overwhelmed, overworked, or just plain lonely. It reminds me of my Bay, the Chesapeake Bay, and the water that I've spent so much of my life around. I miss it.
As much as I tell myself it's cliche that I should be out looking for 'real' stories, there's no avoiding it. The water always beckons. So screw it, I'm going to embrace it and get a nice tan too (sorry to my friends in Minnesota who are freezing).
I feel like I'm finally finding my place here in St. Pete. I'm working hard, finding content and still taking advantage of my days off with lots and lots of sleeping. You know how sometimes you just feel like you're in a special place where you can grow and develop and learn? It's a good feeling to have.
